This time i made a nice cream lotion. It came out beautifully nice and fluffy. Until I added my Preservative and my Fragrance. Its separating now. Is there anyway I can fix it or should I toss it again? Now I am realizing what the problem is. The lotion is nice the issue comes when the preservative Optiphen ND and my fragrance is from Peak Candles are added. All have been added properly. Maybe I didn't use the additives in my calculation and and of course they count as oil and thats why its separating? Thats the only thing I can think of right now.

Should I reheat and add more e-wax?

Is there any way to save this lotion and what can I do differently next time so that when I add my FO and Preservative it doesn't separate and look like cheese lol?

Everytime I use Optiphen ND I get separation issues, even in my tried and tested {literally} recipes. Regular Optiphen seems to work just fine, but I've seen a lot of allergy issues with it among my testers. I've switched to Phenonip myself.

Do NOT reheat! You will negate the preservative. This preservative gives me problems with curdling and separation too. I no longer use it.

Because this preservative does not work with my lotion and cream recipes. I have decided not to make lotion and cream to give away or sell. I would prefer to use a Paraben free and Formaldehyde free preservative.

I am working on some other things to see if this preservative will work with them.

After doing a bit of research I have also discovered this preservative is a hit or miss in creams and lotions.

I also just reorganized all of my supplies and realized I had Opitphen and Optiphen ND.
