Teach Soap

Anyone make a special facial bar? If so what recipes and sents? I am wanting to make one and color it with rose clay (just a little) and use Geranium EO, does this sound ok to you more experienced soapers? It will be just regular soap that would be good for faces also.

I make facial soaps. My base recipe has a very low cleansing value and I use ingredients like buttermilk, cucumber, avocado, honey, etc. and do a higher superfat than I use for my regular soaps. I don't scent or color mine.

Thanks, I thought the clay would be good in small amounts to pull impurities from the pores of the skin, and the Geranium oil is a natural astringent, very soothing and healing to the skin, which is why I thought I might add that. I can see the super fatting, I will do that for sure. I always use goat milk in my soap, have had wonderful results with that. Well, I'm going to try it, will see, it may just be hand soap.

You could make one for dry skin and one for oily skin. Check out the soap queen's blog http://www.soapqueen.com/personal-rambl ... more-39663. She did this with melt and pour but the basics could be applied to cold process.

I have shea butter, I love it in my soaps, I will make sure to have that in my recipe, I am really excited to try this, I picture a nice pale pink soap, well, with the goat milk it may not stay super pale but I bet it will be nice. I have been thinking about this all summer, just need to find time to make it. Has been super busy with the commute plus full time job plus milk goats plus garden and now adding canning to the list plus my husband being home two days a week. I am EXHAUSTED! Thanks for the link, those look awesome, now to get some more ingredients!

I do my facial soaps as HP rather than CP. This way I can superfat after saponification so I know exactly what oils are being left on my skin. I do an 8% SF with jojoba which won't clog pores, and is very similar in chemistry to the natural oils of the skin.

In the soap I add avocado fruit, oatmeal, milk, honey and kaolin clay.

Some day maybe I will try HP, I am still getting CP down for now, your oils sound fantastic. I need to find more recipes.
