Hey guys!!! Hope everyone is well....I just have a question, maybe someone has some experience with this...I'm trying to make an exfoliating lotion bar for use in the shower, but the ingredients in them ALWAYS sink to the bottom. Perhaps grinding them down to a finer consistency? Any help greatly appreciated as always!!!

I would add the exfoliant as the recipe is starting to harden, then mold.

Thanks Irena!! I'm using cocoa, shea (more cocoa than shea), gound rice, almonds, and adzuki beans. I used More cocoa butter than the shea because I want a durable bar that doesn't just disappear after a few uses....so when I let it harden up a bit (I've tried this, and it was a bit of a disaster) what should the consistency be, of the butters? I'm trying to get a firmer layer on top, then mix in the exfoiliants, does that sound about right to you?

Are you trying to do a dupe of the L*sh Buffy? Yes, definitely let the mixture thicken up before adding the exfoliants.

I scented them with some mandarin oil, and mixed with the cocoa butter, they have a kind of chocolate orangey smell...nom nom nom I love them too! Thanks again!!

I'm curious, does your lotion bar rub onto your skin well in the shower? I always thought lotion bars should be applied to dry skin. However, it seems like a nice option to be done with it before getting out of the shower.

Oops, accidentally double posted Amazingly, YES!!! I mixed a larger amount of cocoa butter and a smaller amount of shea so it would be longer lasting, and while it exfoliates ( I use it at the end of my shower and the other's who have tried them do the same thing, I didn't instruct them too, kinda just happened that way lol) it REALLY moisturizes, to the point that you don't need any kind of extra moisturizer afterward! It's turning out to be a best selling product, especially for the price I'm selling them for

Do you add a preservative? I've always wondered about that in these kind of products

Hey Rosie!! No, I didn't add a preservative...I debated on popping some Otiphen in there, but I keep mine in a little tin outside the shower, then just take it in when i'm gonna use it. I haven't noticed anything off, and neither have my awesome friends who were kind enough to give me feedback on the product For the question right above this, just follow Irena's instructions....I wait to add my exfoliants until there's a thick layer of butter around my Pyrex, then slowly mix everything in...just made an awesome charcoal and pumice bar too...although it needs ONE more little tweak...don't they always lol
