I've been doing some research on Rice Bran Oil and Olive Oil. I've seen many posts that say they two are similar in properties in CP soap, but I've seen some that say that Rice Bran gives the soap a silky, creamy feeling.

What's your preference? Olive, rice bran, or both?

A couple of years ago when the price of olive oil skyrocketed, I subbed half of my olive oil with rice bran. I didn't care for the final texture and feel. I went back to olive. I no longer use rice bran in my recipe.

I use both in my recipes, about 10-20% more OO than RBO though. I've never made a soap without OO.

Interesting. I'm working my way through 7 lbs of Rice Bran Oil. I have to shake it up before I use it. I like Olive Oil better and would rather keep it simple. Simple is good.

Where did you buy yours from Peachy? I haven't had to shake mine before use. I usually get it from Soapers Choice, but I ran out recently and didn't need to order anything else from them just yet, so I picked some up from a local international store and saved shipping costs.

Thank you guys for your input! Sounds like Rice Bran doesn't really offer something drastically different than what Olive Oil already gives me.

ShaShea, I purchased mine from Bramble Berry. It seems to get cloudy, so I give it a swirl before pouring. This is my first time purchasing it so I thought it was normal, no?

Hmm, I haven't noticed cloudiness. But I do use it frequently, so maybe it can go cloudy if sitting for a longer period?

I've had mine go a bit cloudy when it got really cold in my house.

Then it might have something to do with being in Massachusetts. I'd prefer to think that BB wouldn't sell me old products (since they're my primary supplier).

I use both and like both. Rice bran makes a more lathery bar, I think, and it's also harder out of the mold. I also like rice bran in leave-on applications, because it has some nice vitamins, anti-oxidants, and supposed anti-aging properties. (And I'll take 'em wherever I can find 'em!)
