Hi Folks -

I have heard of many people using cream in their batch recipes. what exactly is this - heavy whipping cream from the grocer?

If not, what is it and who are the reputable sources?

Is it used as a water replacement in the lye water? If so, in what ratio to the replaced water?

All the best,

BubbleBath

I have seen people add coconut cream, and I assume just normal cream?
I have added thicken cream at trace, and reduced the water to compensate, I think if you added it to the lye water it may go orange and or the fat will react with the lye water and you will get lumps?

I use cream in my soaps. Love the creamy bubbles!

I was told by BB to take 10% of the total water in your recipe to figure out how much cream to use. Then make sure you discount your water. I add the cream at trace. I buy my cream at the grocery store. It is heavy whipping cream found in the milk section.

I have also seen where people take 5% of their total batch to figure out how much cream to use. That is a little more cream, and I might try that in the near future.
