I'm so excited that my English lavender will be blooming soon! :D This is my first time growing it. I kind of prefer the sweeter smell (to my nose anyway) of French lav, but Lowes had several of the small stalks on the "sick cart" for $1 each so my mother & I bought some. I have 2 Grecian urn pots by the front door, so I thought that would be a lovely place to plant them. I know lavender likes to spread so I'll figure something else out once they outgrow the pots. To my pleasant surprise, there's vinca coming back on their own in the same pots w/the lav even though their supposed to be annuals! I'm also growing 2 hanging vinca pots, 2 obedient plants in the ground, 1 potted tomato plant (Mom gave it to me), 1 autumn joy in a huge pink pot that I've had for 10 yrs or so, and my 2 lovely hydrangea shrubs which I've had for a few yrs. What are you growing in your garden?

Pretty lavender. I live in the hot desert. Herbs don't grow well here.

I am growing calendula for the first time. I couldn't find any plants at the nurseries so I started it from seed. The first plants were about 8" and very healthy when we had a terrific hail storm that destroyed them. I replanted and they are just beginning to bloom. I also have lemon verbena, apple mint, licorice basil, thyme, pineapple sage, parsley, lavender, chives, rosemary, savory, sage, garlic chives, marjoram, basil and lemon balm. I love to smell them and can't resist pinching and rubbing them every time I pass them.

Thank Irena!
Wow Anna & MaryLou! I bet your gardens smell heavenly!
I'm pretty much done planting this yr, unless I can find a clary sage plant. That's one of my favorite EOs. I have to limit myself b/c sometimes I get busy & distracted and kind of forget about my outdoor plants.

I have a couple rosemary plants, my favorite! I have some peppermint in a pot and a couple citronella plants. I wanted to get more herbs, but have been busy with other things.

All those herbs sound so lovely, ladies! I have attempted to sprout lavender and lemon balm from seed for 2 or 3 years. The lemon balm never would sprout very well at all. The lavender finally would, (though sometimes it would take a month or so), grow about 1-2 inches tall, develop 2-6 tiny, tiny leaves, and then stop. At the rate they grew, it seems that it would have taken 5 or more years just to get to the size of a little plant you might find in a plant nursery. They seemed to just stop growing at a tiny size! Maybe if I had stuck with them, they would have eventually grown bigger, but again, it would of had to of taken years for them to become even a small plant. Is this normal for them to grow soooo slowly? Has anyone had any luck growing either of these plants from seed? I would love to try them again if I could just get them to grow!

At the moment, we have squash and cucumbers coming in, and we will have tomatoes, watermelon, beans and okra later.

We have a condo, so no typical garden. My hubby did however make some larger planters with irrigation for out patio! We have a few veggies and dill growing now. My oldest daughter (6) has a pea plant that she is very proud of. =)

I have tomatoes, peppers, zucchini, cucumbers and herbs growing. Everything else I just get from the farmers market while I'm there selling soap!
