Hey guys!!! I got a half oz of each, of D&C Red 33 and F,D&C Red 4....I can't wait to use these so I can mix my own colors, however, I'm not what to disperse them in or how much to use. I have Blue 1 and Yellow 5 from Nature's Garden, and they're super pigmented yet they look kind of "thin" in the bottles, so I thought maybe they used water...anyway, I'm not sure and don't want to waste these, so if anyone could point me in the right direction, I'd REALLY appreciate it!! Thanks a bunch!! Jaime :)

If they are a liquid concentrate, you go by the drop. As far as how much to use, that depends what color you are trying to achieve.

Generally, the supplier you purchased from will have usage guidelines, as well as an ingredient list so you will know if they are diluted and with what, or what a powder should be premixed with.

It says that they're water soluble. Irena, I know this is going to be tricky, I'd like them to have the same consistency as the blue and yellow I have, but I'll just carefully put a bit at a time in water until that happens. Thank you both!

Ok...I really thought it was the right route to go by buying these colorants, after researching and trying to follow all the FDA guidelines. Can anyone tell me how to use these? I have read and read and read. Please help me if you can, anyone?

Thanks Irena, just looked over that site again...I'm just wondering what to put the powdered colorant in, whether it be water or glycerin or something else, and how much I should use.

Hmmmm.....thank you Irena!!! I know I'm a pain in the butt, just trying to get everything right...please don't hate me for this one last (for now lol) question....if I WERE to use water, do you happen to know of a nice body safe preservative to put in, and would it be the same ratio as the glycerin? I only ask because these other 2, the blue and the yellow from Natures Garden, seem to be dispersed in water, and work way easier in my bubble bars than my laBombs...speaking of bubble bars, I was SO excited that Brambleberry got their SLSA back in stock!!! Woot woot!!!! I was paying an arm and a leg from another vendor that charged 18.00 for 2 lbs...and the SAME AMOUNT for shipping!! Crazy....that led me to try some of their essential oils, and man....not good. Once again, thank you all, especially YOU Irena, for your patience and for sharing all you know :)

For water diluted colorants, I would use Germall Plus. If you are making up just a small amount, you will need an accurate scale. I use a jeweler's scale for very small amounts of ingredients.
