Teach Soap

Pictured is my first two batches of CP soap. My colors are horrible because I am using liquid colorants purchased at a local craft store. Just ordered good colorants from brambleberry.

Loaf is lemon and raspberry, but the raspberry scent didn't come through very well.

The soaps in the mold are plumeria and lavender. They smell divine, but the lavender gelled and the plumeria did not. After 48 hours I can't Unmold because the plumeria side is so soft. Not sure what do do about that. . .

I'm basically looking for any feedback or tips anyone has for me. . .

Hello and welcome! Since I can't see your pics yet (try using a photo hosting site like Photobucket) is your mold silicone, and is it a loaf mold or individual soap molds? It can take soap a bit longer to harden up enough to unmold with silicone molds, particularly if the soap isn't gelled. I haven't been doing this long either, but I had to wait a full week for one batch to be hard enough to unmold, and still had to freeze it a couple of hours first. Did you use the same recipe for both batches and what was it? Sometimes the soap gremlins take over and have their way with your batch.

Batch 1 recipe

6 oz Coconut
4 oz Palm
4 oz Olive
2 oz Canola
2 oz Safflower
2 oz Grapeseed

Batch 2 recipe

6 oz Coconut
4 oz Palm
4 oz Canola
3 oz Safflower
2 oz Olive
1 oz Grapeseed

In this batch, the lavender scent accelerated the purple side and it gelled. I think I'm not going to separate scents by color next time, just add scents equally to every color, that way they accelerate equally. Thoughts?

Also, thanks for the silicone mold tip, I will let it set for a few more days.

I love your Lemon and raspberry one! So pretty! Pity about the lavender one, it looks nice too! I am not sure if it will work but Maybe put two scents together to the whole batch and then divide it and color separately? Will it still smell like lavender and plumeria or will it create a totally different smell if mixed together?

Freezing them first worked like a charm ! Now the long wait . . .
