that tents can become airborne in just mere seconds on a windy day? Some big gusts of wind tried to carry off quite a few of the vendor tents at a craft fair yesterday. I was able to grab onto mine before it took flight, and a few customers also grabbed the other legs and held on with me until it died down, lol. Other vendors were not so lucky, and others were smart enough to have weights to attach to keep them on the ground.

The folks next to me had weights, 4 cement filled PVC pipes that weighed around 50-60 lbs each. I can't imagine hauling that much weight around along with everything else. What is the typical weight you use if you weigh down your tents?

I use to use 2ltr plastic milk containers filled with water

I've had my tent anchored to my car and it still tried to take off! Some days are just too windy for tents.

Thanks for the ideas, I really don't want to go out and spend a bunch on making weights. Milk or water containers sound reasonable to carry and with as much milk as my son drinks won't cost me anything extra!
