I bought some liquid form and it is syrupy colour but clear. Is that normal?

How much should I apply to my soaps?

The SL I get is colorless. 1% to 3% is the recommended usage rate. Don't discount the water too much.

I'm a bit afraid to ask, but since I have an inquiring mind and have to know, just what DOES happen if you use SL and discount your water too much? How much is too much? Any chance I can use this new and fun method to create another lava flow in my oven?

If you discount the water too much you will get faster trace. If you use too much SL (sodium lactate) you will get faster trace, and crumbly bars. I use SL in 90% of my recipes, and I rarely (if ever) discount my water to accommodate that 1% extra liquid. I figure the extra 1% liquid will help combat any acceleration that I would get from using the SL in the first place LOL :lol:
