On my second batch of CP soap I tried the following Lard soap recipe with 6% SF: 32 oz lard, 4.25 oz lye, 12.16 oz distilled water, 1 oz fragrance oil (Rainwater from WSP). I took the loaf out of the mold at 24 hours and the first slice was cumbling into two pieces. So I waited another 24 hours to slice any more the remaining part is still crumbling into two pieces.

I've read that this is usually lye heavy. But we used a small piece and washed our hands with it after the first 24 hours. It didn't burn, cause hands to redden. It felt fine and had a good lather. Any recommendations on what to do?

When I run your recipe through my lye calc, for 32 ozs. of lard, I get 4.17 ozs. of lye for a 6% superfat. 4.25 ozs. of lye is only 4% superfat. My guess is you don't have enough superfat and not all of the oils interacted with your lye. Did you use a stick blender and reached trace? Did the soap gel? I never go below 7% for my superfat as my skin finds anything lower very drying.
