Teach Soap

I posted about cracking soap recently and thanks for your replies! This, of course, created even more questions so here is round 2.

I usually make 20 bars at a time (4.5oz) but someone wants a larger quantity so I was stepping up to 80 bars at a time. A big/massive crack developed and my questions are:

- does Beer specifically have special problems attached with overheating, cracking? (aside from volcano, etc.)
- my mold is a wooden box. should I use plastic or something that could let heat escape faster?
- i make it around 90-95 degrees but it heated to 130. if i create it at 130 will that have a more uniform saponification and cooling process?
- how long should it stay in the mold for?

Beer has natural sugars, which can make the soap overheat

Wood holds heat. Try plastic or silicone next time.

If you soap at 130, you are most likely get a volcano. I normally soap at around 110 degrees (US)
- how long should it stay in the mold for?
That depends on your recipe. As soon as it's hard enough to cut.
