I have a recipe that I have made a few times for various breastfeeding mommies using their mommy's milk. The recipe is a CP recipe.

Can I HP with breast milk?

Does anyone know?

Or will using the HP method ruin any goodness that there is in the breast milk?

Asking because SIL (sister-in-law) gave me some breast milk to make soap for baby- his poor skin is so irritated.

If I make it CP she will have to wait 3-4 weeks before she can use it whereas, if I make it HP I can give it to her almost immediately....thanks!

You can HP with breast milk.
It's unknown on whether or not any of the nutrients/vitamins of milks survive saponification during CP anyway, so HP couldn't do any more harm.

If the baby's skin is irritated, I'd skip the soap part completely and apply the breast milk straight on his skin, unless it's so irritated that there's sores. Also, depending on the baby's age and reason or irritation, maybe a balm might be more helpful.

Thanks :D I am making her the soap anyway would just prefer she be able to use it sooner than later!

I haven't seen him recently but it sounds like his skin is very dry. Lots of allergies in the family so I know SIL is trying to figure out if she is eating anything that might be causing it :(

Whether CP or HP, it really is best to let either cure. HP speeds up saponification, but IMO, it doesn't speed up the cure. I make and sell both and cure for 4-6 weeks. According to Kevin Dunn, who wrote a book on chemistry of soapmaking, the pH of handmade soap changes slightly as the soap cures. It becomes milder and harder.
