Teach Soap

My 3rd attempt at my lotion recipe seems to be too powdery with little glide. I think the recipe itself is pretty good, just needs a little something else! It sinks into my skin really well, too well in fact...it sinks in before I have it smeared all over! Wonder if this is the Emulsimulse I used or the hydrolized oat protein? What oils/ingredients would help out with glide? Here is the recipe I used

70% water
6% Emulsimulse
3%olive oil
4% apricot oil
6% almond oil
5% shea butter
3% cocoa butter
.5% germall plus liquid
2.5% HOP

I have only seen Emulsimulse at my current supplier and since I will be discontinuing as much buying as possible from them, I am open to other emulsifier options!

I have not used Emulsimulse. I use E-wax NF. It could be because you have 70% water in there.

E-wax can be a combo of emulsifiers. What I was told that E-wax NF should always be the same.

I always use a stick blender. You can stir out bubbles with a spoon, or spritz surface bubbles with 91% alcohol. Just don't use too much alcohol, if a lot mixes in it could make the lotion drying, or separate the emulsion!

A stick blender is must! You need the high shear of a stick blender to properly incorporate all the ingredients.

How do I get the lotion more creamy looking without the bubbles if the whisk and stick increase this? Frustrating, perhaps I am getting them making small batches?

"Burp" your stick blender (submerge the head, tilt at an angle then tap it on the bottom of the bowl a few times) to release any trapped air. If you pulse the stick blender and keep the head of it under the surface of the lotion you should get minimal air incorporation. If you hold the button down long enough for the "wirlpool" to expose the head of the SB, or pull it up to the surface too far simply turn it off and "burp" it again.
