Hey everyone, I have recently had the a very shocking experience with my current soap supplier. I was treated horribly, and pretty sure the treatment came directly from the owner which frustrated me even more.

I short, I called with a few minor concerns about packaging on my most recent order and was treated as though I had no right what so ever to have a problem. The woman I spoke to treated me as though I had done something wrong, and her tone/attitude was in my mind completely unacceptable. My concerns went unresolved and many excuses and 'what you should do's' thrown at me, all of which I was aware of however the problem I had with packaging wasn't being addressed.

One of my concerns, when ordering my oils this time there was an option to get a wide mouth pail instead of the jugs I normally purchase. My coconut oil came in the same jug as normal instead of the pail I ordered it in. Maybe I am just being too picky, but I hate melting down my coconut oil and putting it into another container so I can scoop it out. They have changed the option to purchase this which I understood the reasons however they did not notify me of this(my packing slip states pail). The customer service told me...and I quote, 'I have been soaping for 20 years and its not that hard to melt the oils in the kitchen sink'. Now I don't know when the last time she had to melt coconut oil in her sink but mine takes a few hours to melt, pour, refill sink with fresh hot water...and repeat!

The woman I spoke with hung up on me...that after saying to me 'and what exactly would you like me to do about this'...really, are you serious and I was mid sentence when she hung up. I called back and spoke with someone else who was much more friendly and at least took the time to say sorry for what has happened and she than repeated the same things about packaging I already knew and I told her this however she somewhat understood my frustration and took my feelings into consideration as well as spoke to me like my concerns mattered.

I am so completely floored by how the owner of the place treated me...I would like to try buying from someplace else. If money and shipping wasn't an issue I would love to buy from Bambleberry instead! I don't think I would ever get this type of behavior from there!

Rant over, any Canadian supplier???

Wow! :o That's terrible! Sounds like she doesn't care because there aren't that many soap suppliers in Canada and she can get away with it.

Your right, there aren't that many. I have looked today to see whats out there and can honestly say I am a little worried about the quality of other stuff as I really do like their quality. I really think this woman will not do a thing to rectify the situation and I am a stubborn one and would really like to not give her any more business...whats a soaper to do :)

I am so sorry this happened to you!! I agree - I would not give them any more of my money!

Do you mind telling us who this is? Perhaps some of us have had similar experiences and can help you find a new place to vote for with you $$.
If you don't feel comfortable saying who it was ,please pm me. (really tho - why not name names? YOU have done nothing wrong!.)

You must have spoken to Susan. She can be...volatile. I received damaged products from them a couple of years ago, and she called me every name in the book while I was trying to explain what happened.

We are so limited in what is available in Canada...I now deal directly and only with Lou, who is actually the "head" owner, and a very reasonable man.

That being said, I have done quite well on price with NDA. On the stuff they don't carry, I like Voyageur - prices are high, but CS is amazing.

NDA= New Directions Aromatics in Ontario. They sell in the US, too - so make sure you are on the Canadian site.
CS=Customer Service

Lou does not normally deal with customers on a day to day basis. If there is a problem, however, you can ask for him... he has "fixed" somethings for me in the past. I deal with him because of the quantities of a certain item they can get for me at a good price. He does price stability forecasts for me with his suppliers.

Brambleberry has great stuff and wonderful people, but their shipping to Canada is too high for me.
NDA is across the board - the cheapest I have found in Canada - I probably get 80% of my stuff from them, the major exception being fragrance oils. I only use a few of theirs.

Wow, I've had nothing but excellent customer service from Saffire Blue! Glad I never got that lady on the phone, my temper (and mouth) can outdo anyone else LOL. My main Canadian stores were (and are still) Voyageur, Saffire Blue, and Creations From Eden. Stay far far far away from Canwax! They like to list fragrances as skin safe, until you complain about the rashes, then its "We ONLY sell candle fragrances!" (even though the site says "skin safe" or "bath and body safe") and they clearly state that it is the customers job to test fragrances to see if they are skin safe (words directly from the two owners).

Voyageur is my #1 Canadian vendor. I still order from them even now when I am in NJ.

NO, I don't buy any FOs from Saffire Blue. I don't know if theirs are any good or not, have just never used them.
My FOs come from a lot of different places.

I agree with Hestey about Canwax. I like their prices on packaging, tho - and they have regular sales on some of the bottles I use.

After the way the folks at Canwax treated myself, and a couple of other folks here on the forum, I'd never give them another cent!

I don't blame you, Hestey... for me... my fondest desire is to drive down to Bramble Berry - my in laws are in Vancouver.. shouldn't be a bad drive from there!

Thanks for the options/opinions everyone, I will have to take some time to look into these other suppliers. Because I want the best products in my products, its nice to know these companies are well liked:) Now to see how they ship...SB has an option to ship Lumis and its really cheap!

Perhaps Canwax has candle jars. I just found out my fav soy jar from my current supplier is discontinued:(
