I'm sure some (if not all) of you have heard of the rustic escentuals website. I decided to give them a try since they have very small one ounce bottles and the shipping is cheaper since they are only a few states south. I bought a few one ounce bottles that looked good and I was wondering if anyone had used them before in MP soap and had any other suggestions. The list is as follows...

Black Cherry
Cinnamon Bun
Coffee House
Forbidden Fruit
Ginger Soufflé
Green Apple
Oak Barrel Cider
Raspberry Lilac
Strawberry Rhubarb

Oh and the two free samples I got were Birthday Cake and Little Black Dress. I'm so excited to get my order on Monday!

I dont do MP however the Oak Barrel Cider is the bomb in CP soap. It was my best seller this fall across my whole line ( Soaps to Candles ). The Forbidden Fruit I soaped however I mixed it with other FO's so cant say on that one and I would double check to make sure the Cinnamon Bun is skin safe ( I dont remember them having a skin safe cinnamon but I could be wrong ). Two others that I had good success with and smell great is their Sweet Pumpkin and Blackberry Sage ( Pier 1 type )

I've tried a few of those. Green Apple, Raspberry Lilac, Strawberry Rhubarb & Little Black Dress, but I've only done them in CP, bath bombs & lotion bars. Their green apple to me doesn't smell like green apple. It smells like apple, but not green apple. I'm not a fan of Little Black Dress. I know lots of people love it, but to me it smells like those little old ladies who bathe in strong perfume.

They've also got a Cherry Mist, which is the only cherry I like. I seriously hate anything cherries, but their Cherry mist doesn't have that fake cough syrup or sugary candy smell, so it smells really nice. They've also got a Green Tea & Cucumber that I really love. It's such a nice clean and fresh scent.

I don't care for the little black dress either, so I have never soaped it. I used quite a few of their FO's during my 100 new soap recipes in 100 days a few years back. I know I really like some of them, but off the top of my head all I can recall is; green tea and cucumber (much better than NG's imho), clear skies, rosewood and musk, and Ozark forest. I don't use too many FO's in my line, but Ozark forest was one that I continue to use to this day, my customers love it! I also use their corn husk and falling leaves to blend into EO mixes of mine occasionally, and I use their very sexy to make things for my Son's who love that VS cologne. They say that it smells almost exactly like it. I also use their rosewood and musk to blend into my EO's (that are very expensive) to make lotion and perfume. It cuts the cost and smells great.

You do have to watch though, because they do not have entirely all bath and body safe scents. Also, they do not offer any guidelines on their max use rate. While I don't generally buy from places that do not provide the usage rate, I have made the exception for the Ozark Forest after testing it, (with the corn husk and the falling leaves I only use a very small amount, so no worries there) and I haven't made soap with the Very sexy. If I did though, I'd stick to 5% or less for the clean smelling ones and 4% or under for the spicy ones, just to be safe.

Once a year they run a dollar an ounce sale, which is good for trying scents that you are unsure of, blending scents and making small batches or other products. While I hate making less than 5 pound batches, their sale came in handy during my 100 in 100 days.
Have fun with your new scents and your soaping journey!

Yeah I made sure they were all under the skin safe line for soap making! I'm nervous about Little Black Dress now! I hope it's a keeper! :o I just noticed today the sample from BB is Rich Dark Chocolate so I had no choice but to make a small BB order

That little black dress is one of their best sellers. Obviously a lot of people do not share my opinion, so you may very well love it! I plan on trying it in some lotion or balm just to see if I like it that way. It is not that I hate it, I just wasn't wowed by it so I put it up and never used it. Let us know what you think after you get it!

Okay so I made MP samples with all the fragrances! I'm confident in my results and my tastes!

Love- Birthday Cake, Cinnamon Buns, Coffee House, Oak Barrel Cider, Raspberry Likac and Strawberry Rhubarb

Okay- Black Cherry, Ginger Soufflé and Green Apple

Dislike- Forbidden Fruit and Little Black Dress

Little black dress smelled too mature for me personally so that's why I axed it. Forbidden fruit was just nasty! Out of bottle and in my sample it smelled like "fruit" cough and cold medicines you give to kids mixed with jolly ranchers! :?

I think Cinnamon Bun, Coffee House and Oak Barrel Cider are my favorites! Perfect for the winter! But I do enjoy my few spring/summer scents :D

Well, just to throw another stick blender into the batter.....you really need to soap them in cp soap soap if you want to know what they smell like (if you make cp soap), because scents may smell one way in m&p and another in cp/hp soap. Then, as it cures, the scent may morph, may morph and then morph again, fade for good, or fade and then return. You would be amazed at the difference of some scents in different products. It really can vary greatly!
Have fun finding out!

Got a new set! This time I got 12 little ounce bottles! I have to say though some of them left me disappointed
Note these are all tested in MP soap:

Ammareto Tiramisu- Smells like cherries only. Better than black cherry but no tiramisu smell...
Amber Romance- Not bad. An obvious dupe but I think the hype took it too far.
Apple a Pumpkin Strudel- Now THAT is a romantic experience! So delicious
Blackberry Sage (snc since they have a bunch)- AMAZING!
Black Currant Tea- AMAZING too!
Caramel Sensations- No smell and no dis coloring?! How is that possible?! The liquid is bright orange! :?
Chocolate Layer Cake- Smells like a Tootsie Roll
Creme Brûlée- Even better smelling than the real deal!
Fudge Brownie- No scent
Hot Chocolate- Not bad. I expected more strength...
MacIntosh Apple- Fresh, crisp and mouth watering!
Pineapple Brown Sugar- they should just call it Emeril's Pineapple because it's BAM! I don't smell brown sugar.

The thing is NONE of them dis colored :? uhhh why isn't orange colored caramel dis coloring?! None of my RE scents have dis colored more than the lightest shade of yellow in history! Should I make a bigger batch? :o

I have amber romance (I hate it!) and blackberry sage (which I LOVE). Amber romance discolours and accelerates like a b**** in CP! I have "customers" (friends) who love it, so I make it for them.

Blackberry sage is just plain yummy. 'Nuff said!

Usually when you see notes on discoloring they are referring to cp/hp soap, not m&p. The lye is what reacts with components in the scent to make it discolor, and in m&p you do not use very much of the scent either, so a few drops is not enough of a color to change your batch much, if any.
