Teach Soap

This is my first time using a lye calc and I am practicing with different recipes before I actually do them this is one I found on the forum that had not been ran through a lye Calc at the time it was posted. So I tried Soap Calc ! The Lye calculations in the recipe were written a bit different until I ran them. I just wanted some feed back if I did this right or if Lye calcs differ.

11.4 oz water / cold triple strength coffee

I presume that the "CAO" is castor oil? If so, here is what your recipe looks like in %.

Castor Oil 2 6.67%
Coconut Oil 10 33.33%
Olive Oil 12 40.00%
Palm Oil 6 20.00%
Total Weight 30 ozs.

For a 6% superfat 4.3 of lye and 8-11 ozs. of liquid.

I don't normally go above 20% for for coconut oil, as my skin find anything above drying. I also superfat at least 7%.

Thank You Irena , I appreciate your reply ... do you have a suggestion of how I should alter this recipe or should I just start over. I have not made any soap yet I am just really trying to learn the soap calc and ratio stuff before I attempt anything. I would like to just dive in but I am quite a perfectionist and I hate to make mistakes but I know I will at some point, I just want to keep them to a minimum while I am learning. I guess that is the OCD side of me kicking in. Everything has to be perfect mentality it is really bothersome but I know in the long run it will all pay off.

You're welcome. The only way to know if the recipe works for you is to try it. Everyone's skin is different. What works for me, may not work for you. Just make sure that you weigh everything. For your first batch, I would not add any color or fragrance, til you get the hang of it. Good luck!
