I plan on doing a Frankincense and Myrrh soap for Christmas. I will actually be using the EO's however I have never soaped either one before. Is there anything I should look out for? How much should be used PPO? And finally I know the Myrrh is very thick, whats the best way to make sure it gets blended well in the soap? I know a lot of Frank and Myrrh FO's discolor do the EO's discolor also?

A really good question, I am anxious to see the replies from experienced soapers. I have some Frankincense EO but haven't used it in soap yet because it was so pricey. Might be worth a try for a small batch though if it makes a nicely scented soap :?: :?:

If you decide to try this, please let us know how it turns out! :D

I'd like to know, too. My thoughts on why I would not try it are these- both are relatively expensive oils. And the scent of Myrrh is subtle enough I would be afraid of it not lasting through the soaping process, hence not worth the expense unless its significant skin benefits held up. But I'm interested to hear if anyone has tried it an how it has gone.

I'll bet a frankincense and myrrh lotion would be nice...

Well I never got an answer so I went on with it anyways. I used a blend of Frank, Myrrh, and Cinnamon at about .5oz. PPO. Colored with Activated Charcoal and did a gold mica pencil line. Soaped cooler than normal due to the cinnamon but still thickened very fast and started to rice. I couldnt get it all smoothed back in due to the fact it was all ready pretty thick so I have a few uncolored chunks in there but tested them for zap and they are fine.

Wow, its beautiful! Thanks for posting, the uncolored bits actually add to the artistry of the soap. Great job! :D :!: How does it smell btw, did the scents of the EO's come thru?

I think it turned out really pretty. I use the Frankincense and Myrrh FO from Brambleberry and it smells great. One of the favorites at past shows I have done.

Beautiful soap! How many in this batch? I think batch size has a lot to do with acceleration. Did you use full water?
