Teach Soap

I happen to have some aloe vera liquid on hand and was wondering if anyone ever adds this to cold process soap? Do you add it to your lye water? What about mixing it with goats milk before adding the lye? Does it retain any good properties or does the lye wipe it out?

If it's just the juice with no thickeners added, you can use up to 100% of it to use in soap. I haven't tried aloe juice and goat's milk together, but maybe someone else has. It seems to make the soap more silky, but I don't think much survives the lye monster.

I've made CP with 100% aloe juice and some buttermilk powder! VERY nice soap, helped with my eczema and dry skin a lot (not as drying as traditional CP). Felt more like I'd used a nice well aged castille, only it had awesome lather!

I think you should try it!

Yay, more good things to try in soap making! I've been playing with yogurt and buttermilk powder lately, along with goat milk and coconut milk, and really enjoying the results. Why didn't I think to try aloe vera juice? It will be just in time for my dry winter skin.

I likely sound stupid here but when you say 100%, does that mean instead of water, you are using only aloe juice? This is something I may look into trying, sounds awesome:)

Is it worth it to use aloe juice, can you really notice the skin loving properties when you wash it off:) Does the juice do anything weird with lye?

I've found that my skin feels much nicer after using an aloe juice soap. And nope! The juice didn't change my lye at all! It MAY have cause slight acceleration, or it may have been from my EOs. Not sure on that one.
