My lotions all passed their lab tests with flying colors! In fact, one of them they couldn't find any bacteria or mold/fungus.



One of them did test out as noticeably higher (although still within acceptable limits as set by the FDA) in bacteria than the others (no fungus/mold detected in any of them). I think I will make another batch using that fragrance oil (as that was the only difference between them - five batches of the same formula with the fragrance the only difference), and have them test that one for me. If it shows up high again, I will conclude that it's the FO that's the problem and toss the FO.

Evidently all my prep work (including a near-boiling of my person!) paid off!

Even though you think you did everything the same, it could have been something very small that made the difference. A dust speck few into the jar, your hand touched something it didn't touch in the others, you breathed on one a bit, etc. As long as it was in the good range, no worries! Was this one your initial testing, or how far out were these?
That is the next question to answer, I suggest at least a 6 month and a year test, but I like 6, 9 & 12 months to see if/where it breaks down.

Congrats, Anita! Isn't that the best feeling?
I had my lotions tested to 12 months and that sample was one that I had been using a couple of times a month. It still tested very low so I'm confident that I use GMP and that my preservative is working.
