Teach Soap

Hey Folks!
I am new here... but am soo happy to be part of this group now!
can someone please give me some shampoo assistance?
I have made a few batches using Catherine Failors book, though all the recipes seem pretty darn basic. decent for body washes and hand soap, but the shampoo is lacking.. I would love to make a darn good shampoo, but am intimidated by all the really long (non natural sounding), unprounouncable names...
can someone point me in the right direction of some good natural bases to use? So far it's been Olive, Coconut and Cocoa.

Shampoo is used for clearing the hair from the dust, shampoo is made of many thing like ammunio lauryl sulfate. These detergents work best in water that has little calcium and magnesium

My hair is thin, baby fine, straight and blonde. I prefer gentle surfactants in my solid syndet shampoo bar.

swiftcraftmonkey is sure teaching me a lot, though can anyone point me in a direction other than using cocamidopropyl betaine?! All of her recipes use it and I would like to stay natural..
