Thanks Everyone...I have all of you to thank for helping me at every turn!

Mella, that was the only one I used beeswax in so far and yes, I melted it down and put it in with my oils before the lye. I wisked it every now and then while I waited for my lye to cool down. Was trying to see if it would give me a harder bar. I guess we'll see in 4-6 weeks lol

I'm trying to make a batch a day to get good and figure out what works and what doesn't. My biggest challenge so far is trying to swirl when I've let the trace get too thick. Looking for that point of very light trace.

I think I'll pick up some coconut oil tomorrow and redo that salt bar, this time WITH salt

Salt Bar Fiasco!

Any way to rebatch a salt bar? lol

It just crumbled... I kept checking it to see when I was hard enough to cut. This was about 5 hours after I poured. It kind of went wrong on many levels. I added ground parsley mixed into some of the batch oil to get green but thought it was such a cold green, I added some turmeric. That took over the color. Still a great color but the fragrance is cucumber-melon which is driving me crazy. Great from the bottle but after smelling it for 6 hours I really can't stand it anymore.

I like the color and it's my first in-the-pot swirl BUT think I'll leave the salt alone for a while. I am thrilled to be learning all of this. Thankfully everything is coming to trace now...just need a lot more practice! Next time salt bars are going into my 12 cavity square silicone mold. No cutting then, right?

Maybe sandalwood FO.....winter is coming

SweetPea, sorry about your salt bars. Your soaps look great and I wish I could smell the Cranberry Grapefruit.

I learn so much when I can't leave well enough alone!

Spellbound Woods smells amazing. It smells similar to White Ginger and Amber which I absolutely love but is not as sweet, more earthy. It soaped great. And I was worried after the two previous batches I made. I really wanted to try it though so I sucked it up and went for it and no acceleration at all. It hasn't faded either. I would recommend it.

this is my first attempt of the matra swirl (didn't turn out right) it is scented with BB's dragons blood cybilla one side was colored with black oxide and the other is uncolored since the FO is discoloring and on the top I have an unscented swirl of soap
