Teach Soap

Thinking of selling my soap at a large craft show/festival. Can anyone tell me how to calculate how much inventory to bring to a large show? I only use essential oils and am afraid of having too much inventory left over. Thanks!

Is this for one day? How many people do they expect to attend? How long has this fair been in business? What type of advertising do they do?

Irena gave you some great question to consider. I'd like to offer one more to her list: How many soapers will there be at the market?

It's a weekend well established show that usually has 3 to 4 soaper and as many as 70,000 attendees

Depending how big of a table you get, I would bring as much as you can and store extras under the table. Will you be able to leave your products overnight? Is there night security?
There is no sure way to know exactly how many people will buy. You might have extras, but rather enough then not enough.
1% of 70,000 is 700. Will you have that many soaps available?
Do you live close enough that if need be, you could bring any extras from home the next day?

I will have to consider whether or not I can get enough stock ready. If a good guess would be 1% of the attendance, then that's how I will to try to plan if I consider larger shows. Thank you so much for all your input!

Yeah I was wondering how to figure this out. How much variety goes to for small shows? What's the maximum variety you should ever carry? I know if I brought a dozen different kinds I couldn't bring as much total product as a six variety set up. It's finding the happy medium!

For my weekly farmers market, I usually have 20-25 soap scents and 5 unscented, plus 3-4 lotion & scrub scents. I just don't bring as much product as for a larger venue.
