Help!?
I have made 2 batches so far & they both have an underlying scent to them similar to ammonia :(
I did not use milk. They both contain olive oil, coconut oil, and palm oil. One batch is 2 scents mixed 80/20 & the other batch is only 1 scent. Stumped newbie here.

Which scents did you use and at what %?
Did the soap gel and is it possible that the soap overheated?
What type of a mold did you use?

I used NG scents Bite me & Lick me at 5%.
For the first batch I used Glad containers & the 2nd I used a wooden mold lined with parchment paper & both stuck in the fridge to prevent gelling.

WOW that's really strange........
I unmolded a BB Lily of The Valley today
from the 12 bar silicone mold...a basic
olive, palm, coconut, castor I always use
and I get a bleach smell. It doesn't smell
like that ootb.
What's going on?

The ammonia smell seems to be stabilizing/fading & the FO scent is faintly coming through now. I am thinking I didn't add enough FO. They have been curing for 2 weeks, is it safe to test a piece?

That's good to know that it's fading.
Mine has a little less bleachy smell, but
not as it should be. I'll give it a full cure and see/smell.

Meanwhile I made lotion with the same fragrance and
it's fantastic!
Hope my soap works out.

I think I might be of help, Sweet...I used NG's Sea Salt and Lotus Blossom in soap a couple of months ago, smelled heavenly oob, but when I cut the bars I thought I was smelling cat pee! Ugh, I was devastated at the time but my swirl in the soap looked so cool, I decided to put it away for a couple of weeks, hoping it would change. 2 weeks later it smelled heavenly! A great lesson I learned here so take heart. :)

Hello everyone! I am new here, I have been reading this forum for a little while but I finally think I am learning enough so that I sound like I have a clue when I post...nice to meet all of you!

Welcome, Lovegreyhounds!
Do you rescue greyhounds? My BIL used to have several that he adopted after they were no longer used for racing. They're wonderful dogs. :D

Thank you Linda! I do have one rescued greyhound, Jewel, she's my baby, I've had her almost 11 years. They are wonderful, sweet dogs.
