BB will always be the go-to for most colorants but I'm wondering if there's another good, reliable source for natural colorants - like comfrey, woad, etc. I know SMR has these because I just got a sample of some with my order, but they don't list the INCI's on their site, and their help rep is going to try to see if they can get that info from their suppliers. In the meantime, any other suggestions? I am having no luck with any of the other sites I've looked at.

Thanks Irena. That was actually the company I was referring to....unfortunately, they just emailed me back saying they would not be able to provide the INCIs because they work with too many suppliers and it would take too long to contact each and wait for the companies' responses. Kinda bummed out because I did like the samples they sent me...but just not digging the fact that I won't be able to sell them if I can't label them correctly.

The way I understand US rules and regs is that you can use common names without the INCI.

Irena: What I should have said was that I have a hard time labeling items without uniformity...it's like a OCD tic or something :lol:

Just a thing I have about everything following a pattern. I know, I'm weird.

I purchased my natural colorants from Wholesale Supplies Plus. They list everything you need to know about the oils, colorants, EO, etc.

If you just put "INCI for" and the name of your powder into your search bar, you will pull many sites that offer the proper INCI names for many oils and additives. The INCI for Woad or Indigo is always the same, that is why there is an INCI name, for consistency. The only place you need to worry is where you have varieties, such as in marigolds or something along those lines. Then you will find different scientific names for different species, but as long as it is a straight oil or item, you will find it.
