I realized after I posted this question that I put it in the wrong forum...so thank you for answering me.

I think I will just stay with cold process and if a few are not quite ready when I give them as gifts, I will just include a little note for my family to wait a week until using.

that's why i like cpop so much. I get the look and feel of cp, with the instant gratification of hp.

You still have to let it set a day or three after cutting to lose it's tackiness and dry out some, but essentially, it's DONE.......it's soap when it comes out of the oven. And you really cant tell the difference from cpop or cp that's been sitting and curing for several weeks.

I really like the cpop too. I just started doing it because of some rush stuff I had to do. I had to do an emergency batch of Frankincense and Myrrh last monday to get shipped this week. I put a note in there that it was done and can be used but would continue to harden over the next couple of weeks. I like instant gratification!

The soaps that I have done have been sitting for two weeks already so when I gave them at Christmas time I was just going to ask eveyone to wait a week.

What is cpop?

ok, now I know what cpop is.

My question, what do you put it in the oven in? A wood mold? Can I use a metal 9X13 that is lined with freezer paper?

i suppose you can use a metal pan.........never used one before. Just make sure it's stainless steel though because some metals throw off some uber harsh fumes when coming in contact with a lye solution. I do know from experience that it will melt through the cans that coke comes in. Seriously!

I normally use my wooden molds for cpop. I do mine.......oven at 170 degrees, turn it off after an hour and leave the soap in until it's back to room temp. Usually the next morning.....lol Some ppl raise their temps up to 200 though and leave the oven on for up to 2 hours. I've found though, that 170 at one hour is perfect. I dont want to make it any hotter because some fo's act funky in the oven. some can burn off, real sweet ones can seperate in the oven. I like doing test batches cpop especially because if there are going to be changes or discoloration or some other funky morphing, you know right away!
