I prefer Lavender Abrialis myself as it's more of a sweeter lavender. For soap 40/42 works better for me as it sticks.

I use Bulgarian lavender almost exclusively and always have, although I did try the Hungarian lavender not long ago. They are usually the same cultivar, and smell quite similar, but are subtly different.
I personally do not care for the 40/42 blend, although a lot of people do like it. I think it is more "perfumy", sweeter than the angustifolias, where the angustifolias are more true plant like....to me anyway.
