Teach Soap

Not sure where to post this, but I'd like to buy soap dishes in bulk, hopefully around $1-2/pc, can anyone help?

the chemistry store has some decent wood decks for reasonable. You can by individually or in packs of 10 or 100 or more. Price breaks accordingly, but even the single price is ok. Before I got mine made I bought from the CS.

ETA: I just looked at the link that you gave Linda, and those are the same ones the chemistry store has. Well, I should say those are one of the two types they sell. They switch back and forth between those and another one that is really a bit nicer. But anyway, they have better pricing than your place, so keep that in mind when you want to order.

I'd like to learn the glass technique where you basically lay a cut sheet of glass over a metal soap dish mold (or other mold shapes), then it's fired in a kiln and the glass melts into the mold shape.

It'd be an interesting upsale item to have. They're really quite beautiful.

That sounds interesting Robert. I've always wanted to do stained glass, but I have not heard of the type of glasswork you mentioned. Why don't you take this up and share with us, after all, I don't need another hobby! Lol

Haha there's always a new craft waiting, isn't there? I found out about the glass melting/fusing over metal molds technique after a blogger talked about doing glass fusing using a microwave kiln (amazon carries them! lol). I've done glass blowing before in a class, so I poked around a bit researching. When all was said and done, I decided I didn't need a craft hobby that was so expensive.

At some point when life settles down, I would like to find someone that rents out kiln time to play around a bit.

I'll have to check into this. My mother-in-law used to do ceramics and still has her kiln.
