Teach Soap

Hi!

So I have been cutting my loafs with a fairly sharp, thin knife. I have not found any soap cutter to cut as easily as a knife. They are usually dull and take a lot of strength to cut the soap. My only trouble with the knife if that sometimes there are drag lines or vertical lies from the blade on the cut edges of the soap. It's certainly not a serrated knife but does anyone use anything in particular to cut their loafs? I once cut a small piece with a razor blade and the result was beautifully smooth but I don't think there is an extra large razor blade

I have used a kitchen scraper before to cut m&p and cp soaps. One similar to this . It worked beautifully.

^That is what my soap cutter looks like. I have a miter box to cut soaps the same size. The only problem I run into is if the loaf I make is taller than the cutter, then it doesn't go all the way to the bottom of the soap because the handle stops it. In that case I just revert back to a big knife.

If I could do it over, I would have ordered my Multi-Bar Cutter in my first order of soap supplies. Huge time saver and the bars look so much more beautiful. I found that I ended up with more bars because I no longer cut a few of them too large.

Make sure you know what thickness you want for your bars. I started with 1" cutters. After playing with various bar sizes, I realized that I don't like 1" thickness as it seems like a wimpy bar to me. I'm much happier with the 1 1/16th" thickness that BB uses on their cutter.

So the wire cutter works well for melt and pour? I assumed it was for cp only?

I have the Tank. It was suggested to me by the vendor not to cut MP with it as it can snap the wire(s).

OOPS, I missed that this thread was for Melt & Pour. I don't know what works well for slicing loafs of MP. Sorry about that Mama22.
