Teach Soap

I soaped with BB's Cold Water FO this weekend. The description stated "This fragrance can be touchy in CP and may tend to discolor your soap slightly". Has anyone used this fragrance? When I unmolded this morning, there was approx. 1 tablespoon of reddish brown liquid inside the freezer paper (bottom of soap). I thought it was FO as it did not zap so I let it sit all day to absorb the FO. But I was so darn curious about the liquid I had to cut it even though it did not gel. Each bar has a pink line about 1/4 inch from the top of the soap. Any ideas?

Recipe: 25.6 oz Tallow (beef) Temp: 115 degrees
2.5 oz castor Size: 2 pound batch
3.8 oz coconut
4.3 lye (7% superfat)
10.6 oz distilled water
1/4 tsp ultramarine blue(dispersed in 1 TB sweet almond) *split batch in half, one half blue, other half uncolored

I was expecting seizing, ricing or something...not pink. As a matter of fact, the white part of the soap is pinkish. I FINALLY got a really good swirl (was going for the new wave swirl) and instead got pink.......any help will be greatly appreciated.

Oh wow! I've soaped Cold Water quite a few times, but never run into the pink issue. It does accelerate some for me, and very very slightly discolors my white, but nothing major.
I really don't know what to say! That is very unusual (but kinda neat looking, too!).

Yeah, it's not ugly...just don't know whats up with the red (or pink). I didn't do anything special or different to the top, except swirl in a figure 8 on the top with a skewer....can't imagine that would cause it since I've done it numerous times before.

I wouldn't even say that trace was accellerated with this soap and it didn't even gel (which is unusual since most of them do).

I guess I could call it "red tide" instead of "waves"...lol.

I haven't had a problem with this FO either. Did you reach true trace and mix the FO in really well?

Not reaching true trace "may" cause seepage on the bottom of the soap. I always add any FO or EO to my cooled off oils.

Thanks Irena. I have tried the FO/EO in the warm oils before. It works very good.

I have more of this fragrance and will try this recipe again....see what happens.
