Teach Soap

Morning everyone, I am going to be trying a 3 new ingredients this morning and wondered if they will affect my recipe. I will be trying red clay and dead sea mud in a recipe(2 differenet batches) and oats/honey/goats milk power in another. My idea was to use my favorite soap recipe and add these things to it but should I be worried about the dead sea mud in particular messing with the beautiful creamy bubbles and this recipe?

From what I have researched on clay and mud, these can be really good soaps for trouble skin!

The clay & mud should be fine if you don't add too much. I hydrate my clays before adding them to soap though, otherwise I've ended up with some chalkiness & crumbliness in my soap.

The milk & honey are known overheaters due to the sugars. How did you plan on adding them?
I usually freeze my milk until slushy, then slowly add my lye, while continuously stirring.
With the honey, I heat it up a bit so it's more fluid when I add it, and I add it at trace.
Also, I put my soap in the freezer (uncovered) for about 2 hours to keep it from overheating & then I put it in the oven for 24 hours (preheated to 170, then shut off).

I use the dead sea mud as a swirl in my face soap and sometimes add a little activated charcoal to make it black.

Whenever I use Dead Sea mud I make a half and half bar, half regular batch and half with the mud. Not only is it pretty that way, but it gives the choice of bubbly bubbles and regular cleaning or of the Dead Sea mud and the astringent cleaning. Using the entire bar gives the best benefits of both. I would say that a swirl would work similarly, and would also be very pretty.

Remember when adding in the clay to not over-use it. It will make your batter come to trace faster, especially the more you use, and if you use too much, you will can make your soap drying. Used in the proper amounts, it is a wonderful addition though, so have fun experimenting and enjoy the journey~

When I make goat milk, honey and oatmeal soap with goat milk powder, I stick blend the powder into my oils before I add my cooled lye solution. I add my honey to my cooled lye water and stir it really well to dissolve it. Finally, the oatmeal is added at trace. Works perfectly every time.

Thanks everyone for you replies, think with the sea mud and red clay I won't put it in the whole bar...just to be safe:)
