Teach Soap

The comments about teaching others how to make soap set me thinking. At the moment here we have very little market for it. There are no commercial outlets that sell CP soap (eg Macy's in the US, Lush in the UK). It's hard work trying to educate the consumer as well as everything else. I find myself wondering if I offered soap making classes, to encourage more people to make soap, whether or not the market would grow? Or would I just be shooting myself in the foot? It would be difficult though because the little lab is nowhere big enough to teach more than two people.

Lumpy deodorant is most likely due to not mixing the ingredients together weel enough or the recipe was not in the right proportions. by all means there is some flexibility in how much bi carb soda or essential oil you use but the base of the recipe needs to be watched.

Eg, you wouldn't want to use too much Cornstarch or Arrowroot powder of bees wax as that is where you will get a gluggy or lumpy result.

If you want to have a go at a really simple liquid form deodorant recipe try this one.

1/2 cup vodka (min 40% abv/ 80proof), 1/4 cup witch hazel , 10 drops lavender essential oil. Simply mix in a bottle and shake each time before you use it - works a treat!

There are plenty more to try out which are so quick to make up and smell beautiful!

If the deodorant is just for yourself, you can use vodka. If it's for resale anywhere in the US then you can't, unless you use perfumer's alcohol. But that's pricey.
