Teach Soap

I cruise this forum and play with the soapcalc at work. Yeah I'm one of those. I work in an office (dungeon really) all by myself armed only with a cb radio and a computer. I'm a dispatcher and bookkeeper, so I "reward" myself by spending time feeding the addiction. Enter the daily receipts...look at soapy stuff...enter the payroll...look at soapy stuff...dispatch a delivery...look at soapy stuff....
I know it's wrong but it just feels sooooo good

Sounds good. Lavender and oatmeal are two of my favorite things. I know everyone tells you to start with no fragrance or color but I just don't have that kind of self control. My first batch was soap queen's pumpkin spice soap followed by oatmeal soap with pencil lines and then 3 color cranberry fig swirl. There's so many pretty simple soaps I see but I just can't seem to ignore the call of glitter and swirls. I say go for it!

Is it possible to make an oatmeal milk and honey soap using the Bastille recipe? I am so stuck right now. I was going to add the oatmeal etc. at trace. Should I short the liquid for the lye solution given I am having liquid in as evaporated milk? Help!!

Okay, so I did my first batch of soap today........it was definitely scary and exciting all at the same time! My husband told me that the kitchen looked like a science lab ~ lol

Here's the question from today ~ how do you know when you have blended TOO MUCH?

I took my batter to trace, added my EO's then blended again, but was afraid of over blending.

If your raw soap looks like thick pudding, that's thick trace. I soap at thin trace, so it's easy to pour.

I think I took it to thick trace after blending the EO's in......still workable but we shall see, my 2# mold is now in the fridge and my mini silicone molds with the leftovers are insulated and covered. I figured I would experiment with this first batch and look at the soap both ways.....

When do I zap test? Btw, did I mention how much I hate the taste of soap? LOL
