We made a 2# batch of soap this past weekend and for some reason instead of knowing that a medium fragrance was 0.7 oz of fragrance oil per pound of Oil, I did 1.7oz of Sensual Sandalwood per pound of oil. So in my 2# batch I used the entire 3.5oz of fragrance oil. OOPS!
Is this batch ruined? With it being so strong will it cause a skin irritant?

That could be skin irritating. I would make another unscented batch, shred this one and add it to the second batch.

So shred it with something like a cheese grater.
Do I need to melt it into the new soap? Or leave it as shreds?
Thanks for the tips

When I made the fragrance soap I also made a non fragrance and non colored version so that I could see how they would be different in hardness and such. Still a newbie here so I am experimenting.
What if I used the uncolored/unfrangrance soap and melted this and the frangrance soap together and pour all of this into a mold. Sort of like a melt and pour. Would this work?

I presume this is cold process soap. If that's the case rebatch will never again be as pourable as melted MP. You can shred the two batches together and rebatch in a crock pot or the oven. When melted, it will be more like the consistency of mashed potatoes. You will be able to glop it into your mold. Bang the mold to help get rid of as many air bubbles as possible. Let cool, then cut into bars.

Hmm, Okay. I think I will try the first option of shredding the overly fragrance bars and adding them to a new batch. I assume the shredded particles will just stay as whole piece and be embedded into the new bar. If I were to do this would you recommend adding another light fragrance to the Sensual Sandalwood to make a blend or just leave this scent as is?

Thanks again Soapbuddy for your assistance but I have, hopefully, one last question. After I shred the over scented soap and I start me new batch of soap, at what point do I add the shreds to the new batch and how does this "rebatch" process go?
I am still new to this so when you say, " If you don't rebatch and add the shreds to an unscented batch, it will most likely look like confetti soap. "
Will it look like confetti soap or do I do something to keep it from looking like confetti soap.

You will need to use at least two molds the size of the original mold you used or use only some of the shred this time and some another time. You don't have to grate them -- you can use a knife and dice them if you prefer. The important thing to remember is that you goofed and used 2 1/2 times the fo you should have used. Therefore you should dilute it by separating the shred into 3 smaller batches of plain soap.

The good thing is that you didn't lose all those expensive ingredients. You'll just have to have more fun and make more soap with them. If you want to change up the look in some of it, you can color the new soap.
