Teach Soap

Just saw one of dove's commercial. Is it true their bar isn't really "soap" like they claim in their ad.

on their website the are not calling them soap but "beauty bars" and here is there ingredient list
Ingredients:
Sodium Lauroyl Isethionate, Stearic Acid, Sodium Tallowate or Sodium Palmitate, Lauric Acid, Sodium Isethionate, Water, Sodium Stearate, Cocamidopropyl Betaine, Sodium Cocoate or Sodium Palm Kernelate, Fragrance, Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea Butter) Oil, Propylene Glycol, Sodium Chloride, Tetrasodium EDTA, Tetrasodium Etidronate, Titanium Dioxide, Yellow 5, Yellow 6.

And I don't see sodium hydroxide so I am asuming it is not real soap

It's not true soap. It's a detergent.

Was it the Paper dissolving on soap commercial? I hate that commercial because it's so stupid. They're obviously using dissolvable paper and it's dissolving because of the water on the soap, not because of the soap itself. They show no time elapse for the paper they put on the dove bar & there's barely any water on it.

Plus, my skin is not comparable to paper.

They are using the saponified names of the oils, sodium tallowate is saponified tallow, sodium palm kernelate is saponfied palm kernel oil, etc... That way they don't have to list sodium hydroxide.

It sounds like a combination bar, part synthetics, part soap (tallow, coconut, palm, shea).

my boyfriend even hates that commercial...uh, your skin is not made from paper. soap isnt going to make it dissolve!
