Teach Soap

I tried a new recipe off the internet last night. When I tried to cut it today morning, it broke into big chunks
I cant figure out what went wrong... Should I have sliced it earlier?

avacado oil 41.6gms
coconut oil -145.8gm
palm - 125gm
shea butter - 20.8gm
soybean-104gm
sunflower oil-62.5gm
water-190gm
lye-70gm

superfat-7%

hardness-43
cleansing-20
conditioning-52
bubbly-20
creamy-23
iodine-71
INS-144

EO blend of lavender, ylang ylang, clove, patchouli

Temp - 35C

The recipe looks ok to me. Did you melt and stir your palm oil before use? Do you have an accurate scale? Did you stick blend til trace? At what temp?

Here is what I calculated for your recipe:

Avocado Oil 41.6 8.32%
Coconut Oil 145.8 29.18%
Palm Oil 125 25.02%
Shea Butter 20.8 4.16%
Soybean Oil 104 20.81%
Sunflower Oil 62.5 12.51%
Total Weight 499.7 gms.

I'm thinking it's the palm oil. Stearic can settle to the bottom of the palm oil. If you used this portion to make soap with, it can make the soap crumbly. Is the sunflower high oleic type?

Try soaping higher then 35. I normally soap at 110F. You might have gotten a false trace.

I soaped the same recipe again at a higher temp and it has come out beauuuutifful... thanks soo much..
