Teach Soap

I normally use a 36% discount and find that lots of time to get things done. How much difference would a lower discount cause? Was going to try 34%, still going for a full 4-6 week cure but was hoping to make sure some bars are ready for late april!

I would not go stronger then a 40% lye solution because beyond that the lye won't dissolve and you might end up with lye crystals in your soap. If you need the soap by the end of April, that should give you enough curing time.

The less water you use, the stronger the lye solution. A 40% lye solution is approximately a 1.5:1 water to lye ratio. (1.5oz water to 1oz lye)

If you use soapcalc.net you can pick the strength of your lye solution rather than a water percentage.

I know the voices in my head aren't real, but they sure have some great ideas!

Try reading this blog post, I think it will make everything more clear. I was taught to double my lye amount in water and that was what I have done and usually still do. But this post explains it.
