Teach Soap

Will be saying goodbye to my buddy of 18 years - Houdini aka "Mr Kitty" - later on today. Thyroid problems for years, which led to kidney problems. Now he's diabetic. Numerous other issues. He's stopped eating. Its time. Right thing to do but always sucks.

Lots of animal lovers on the board - I know I am not the only one here who has gone through this.

R.I.P. Mr. Kitty. You had a long, wonderful cat life.

I am so sorry for your impending loss.

I'm so sorry. He had 18 years of love and care, definitely a blessing for any kitty. My thoughts are with you as you go through this difficult time.

Thank for your kind thoughts. He had it so good, he even got to kill and eat several birds off of my balcony - its not often an indoor cat gets to indulge thier predator instincts.

Apologies to the bird lovers on the board.

The worst is waiting for the appointment. Its in less than an hour. I'd do the deed myself, at home, if I could.

Hugs April I understand.. my kit-kat of 10 years passed away 2 years ago... i still think of her from time to time even though I have angel who was born at the same time as kit's passing.. is the completely different then kit.. I love her just as much.. she's only indoor too. but I held kit before. during, and after... hubby had to take her from me... it was hard for me... when they time is right.. god will send you another one to help heal you. i know it may not seem like that now.. but rest and heal your broken hearhugs to you friend and prayers.

Thanks so much everyone - just got back from the vet. Houdini loved to sit in cardboard boxes for some reason, so we fixed up a banker's box to take him to the vet - he was much more relaxed than being in the carrier. He was really starting to go downhill - it was done at the right time. The vet and assistants were great - I very much appreciate anyone that goes into that line of work and has to deal with this on a regular basis.

The Boyfriend, who is as torn up about it as I am, said "we took such good care of him, he lived so long he just wore out..."

R.I.P. Houdini aka "Mr Kitty". Say "hi" to all the other kitties we have lost.

I feel for you. I've had to put two much loved pets down in the last 3 years due to cancer and it never gets easier. {{{HUGS}}} to you and your BF.

Very sorry to hear that. My own cat is 15 and almost blind, I think, because he needs the kitchen lights to be full on to find his food bowl. The dog seems to be acting as his guide.
