Teach Soap

Ok So I tested soaps 1 ,3 and 4 for zap and all I got was soap taste at first no zaps but after I was done and rinsed out my mouth cuase soap is yucky, I do have a slight tingle on my tounge but None of them zapped when I put my tounge on them. Do you think that my tounge is just a bit crabby becuase it was licking soap? ?

I can't help you but can relate. I am getting a batch of ph test strips to test bars as I am sick of eating soap!

Soap that zaps you would definitely know. If it tastes weird or soapy, you should be ok.

Yeah when testing batch #2 the zap was painfully and rather disturbingly obvious. I rather hope I never experience it again.

Even though I have ph strips, I've read in these forums that they actually are not accurate for soap.

It will irritate your tongue even if it isn't zapping because of FOs and colorants. ZAP definitely burns.

I don't put my tongue on the soap. I wet my finger, rub it on the soap and then put my soapy finger to my tongue. It works for me . . . but I am always surprised when I talk that bubbles don't spray out of my mouth!

I'm so glad I found this topic! I had the exact same thing happen to me last night (tingle after initial soap taste), and I was really worried that my peppermint soap was lye heavy (it's one of the best smelling I've made so far!). Since everyone says Zap is very obvious, I was hoping it was something else. Maybe it was just the peppermint FO making itself known?

That's very possible. The best description of Zap that I've seen is "it feels like having your tongue snapped with a rubber band".
