Teach Soap

Hi! My name is Hope and I am new here : )...I am also new to homemade beauty care products and was hoping I can learn a lot from all the users on here! I made my first sugar scrub tonight. I read through lots of different recipes and made one with a recipe I tweeked just barely a little. The thing I was wondering, do most people use their sugar scrubs kinda soupy or more thick? The one I made is a little soupy and I was just wondering how most people prefer it. I was thinking of adding a little more sugar to thicken it up a little. Some of my oils are rising to the top, is that normal? Any input would be much appreciated, thanks!

Welcome! I like mine thick. Don't forget your preservative since it will most likely get damp from your fingers or wet from your shower or bathroom.

The recipe I found calls for Vitamin E as a natural preservative, is this okay?

Vitamin E is not a preservative and won't stop the growth of bacteria or mold. If you make something that is exposed to or contains water without a preservative it can grow all kinds of nasty stuff that you don't want to be rubbing all over your body! Vitamin E is an antioxidant, which is not the same thing.
