Hi all, I'm looking to make a lip balm only using beeswax, olive oil and honey, does anyone know the ratio of these ingredients please

Try two parts oil to one part wax. What will you be putting it in? A jar, a swivel up tube or a tin? That would make a difference.

I haven't heard of a lip balm formula without butters. Let us know how it turns out. I'm super curious.

I made one the other day, 1 part wax, 1 part butter, 1 part oil. It was also super hard (I have it in a pyrex dish at the moment). Last night I added 1 part oil and the consistency is fine but it's a little too glossy for my tastes.

What is the smallest tin you can get? I'd like to put it in my wallet. Is this something I may be able to find at a store (Micheals?) without actually buying someone elses balm and scraping it out?

Formulating a great recipe certainly takes some practice rounds and a lot of tweaking. Hang in there, I am sure you will come up with one you love.

@Diana, you can purchase tins from a good number of places, although I am not sure about a craft store like Michaels. I do know that you can buy from one to a case, in different sizes, from this on line place if you can't find any locally.

Thanks Tammy! I'm sure I can get one when I place another oil order but I'm not sure when that will be. I keep trying to think of something I can repurpose around here.

Still trying to perfect my lip balm, it always seems to come out too hard, and the last one that was the right consistency was grainy, maybe I heated the butter too much. I had only two lip balm containers the first time I made it and ended up with way more than I needed. In a pinch a tiny little tupperware-like container worked, about the size needed for packing a salad dressing for lunch.

It is a great post and i really like it thanks for sharing this recipe and it really helps to make a lip balm my myself.
