Teach Soap

Hi, I have just made my first batch of wax melts and Im testing them out. I have a bit of a strange question, but... is the wax supposed to stick to the inside of the oil burner??? Like, i put my melt in the bowl and lit the candle, and it smelt amazing, but then when i was finished it got hard again but i can't get it out, its like it has stuck to the bowl!

I have never had this problem with store bought melts. I'm thinking I used the wrong soy, but before i bought it i contacted my supplier and asked their advice on which one to buy.

I will need to scoop it out with a spoon or something.

I've never used homemade ones, just the ones that I buy from Scentsy. At a home party once, the Scentsy consultant told us that he will use cotton balls to absorb the melted wax from the burner, then he can just wipe out the rest with a paper towel and put the cotton balls in the wood stove for a sort of a "last hurrah" from the wax. (I've never done the wood stove bit, I jet let them fragrance the trash until I change the bag.) I'm not sure how hot your melts get, but the Scentsy doesn't get at all hot. Maybe that would work?

It sounds like you are using a container wax. You won't have the sticking if you use a votie/pillar wax.

That happens almost all the time for me. I just stick the warmer bowl in the freezer for an hour & then the frozen wax will pop right out.

Mine pop right out and are a soy blend. When asked about changing scents or trashing the current one, the scentsy lady that had the space next to my booth last Summer, said that she poured it back into the clam shell and allowed it to re-set there. So evidently theirs don't pop right out either! Lol. I would do the freezer trick, it works for releasing candles and soap from molds, so it should work for the tarts too.
