Okay, I just stumbled across an album on Facebook from Nature's Garden where they used the new Wilton sugar sheet punches to create some single use soaps. (Also- if you really want to get the punches, go to Wilton.com or your craft store, since they're a bit higher priced on NG. Craft stores are the best option, since then you can use coupons! And no shipping!) Now, being the crafty insane person I am, I immediately wondered if I could use my Inspiration cutter to do the same thing, but more awesomely. I'd imagine this could be done, the trick would be pouring the soap layer thin enough (2mm or less, which is thinner than what the comment said on how thick they poured their soap), and keeping it in place on the cutting sheet. The latter concerns me almost as much as the former.

Has anyone tried this yet? Should I take this on as my weekend challenge? (Which means trying to figure out where I put/hid my cutting sheets...)

I haven't heard of this til now. So are the sugar sheets dipped in MP, or is it a thin layer of MP base that you would cut out with the punch?

It's a thin layer of mp. You can do the same thing with a cookie cutter, which are usually cheaper and have a wider variety of shapes.

But I have used the punches to make single use soaps using the dissolvable paper dipped in mp.

@soapbuddy- They're just cutting a thin layer of MP with the punches that are made by Wilton for their Sugar Sheets. I'd considered trying some of the Sugar Sheets in soap, in lieu of printing on water soluble paper or decal sheets, so that might be an experiment, too.

@Genny- Yeah, cookie cutters would probably work just as well, I was just curious if I could feed a sheet of MP through my cutter. lol I never go for the easy solutions. Plus, if it worked, then I could create some pretty spiffy embeds for other soap projects!

I have no idea why it doesn't dissolve in mp. I never even questioned it. LOL

I got the idea from Anne Marie's Leaf project a couple years ago http://www.soapqueen.com/personal-rambl ... nd-leaf-2/[/quote]

I've tried every brand of embeddable paper on the market and have still not been successful in getting a finished soap that worked to my satisfaction. They look okay for a few days, but then begin to bleed. I've sprayed with hair spray, Krylon acryllic fixative, allowed to dry for days before embedding, etc. Tried water-dissolving, tattoo paper, etc. It seems to depend on a bunch of things - brand of soap base you're using (I use SFIC), whether your inkjet printer ink is water-based or pigment-based (I've tried both). I've ultimately decided it's not worth it to buy a laser printer (actually, I simply don't have the space for another piece of equipment). I even took images to Staples and had them try it on every printer in the store.

If someone has more hints, I'll keep trying :)

Are you supposed to spray with hairspray right after it prints or after it dries? On Soap Queen she said to spray it but not exactly when :/. I asked under the video so I'm waiting for a response from there too.

Susdsie Q, I hadn't heard of the Inspiration cutter, but it looks like a cool little machine! You'd think if it's able to cut fondant and gum paste, then it should be able to cut a thin layer of MP? Think of all the possibilities!
