I was just talking to a relative who I've talked to before about making soap & have given her lots of pointers, tips & links to good info. She's been dabbling in making MP soap & candles for over a year and is known for doing things that make no sense.
But anyway. She was telling me all about this soap that she bought at a craft fair. She wants to make some just like it because she loves the idea of it so much but doesn't want to pay $6 for a 3 oz bar of it again. (This same person complained that my 4 oz $4.75 soaps were too expensive
) What was the soap? Yogurt soap. She talked with the makers of it & apparently they got to talking about soap making and the lady gave her the recipe:
1 lb White Melt & Pour Base
1 cup yogurt
1 oz rubbing alcohol
1 oz mineral oil
I told my relative that if you add yogurt to it, it'll mold. (I know from experience) Her response, the alcohol and mineral oil will preserve it.
Then she said that the soapmakers told her to use the soap as soon as possible.
She said that she used it all up and she really liked it, but thinks she'll add some olive oil to hers because the soap dried out her skin. (duh!)
When I explained to her again about adding food stuffs to MP, she got all angry with me and said, "Well how come you add milk to your soap and it doesn't get moldy?" So once again I explained to her that I do Cold Process soap. To which she replied, "The MP is cold."
