Okay, so I attempted the rootbeer soap yesterday and I cut it today. I boiled/simmered it just like was suggested here. The other ingrediants I used were olive oil, coconut oil, lard, and lye. I did not add any extra scents or colors...I just wanted to see what would come out. On top of the soap is some milky white stuff and it looks like it has some kind of swirls. Looks a little like a rootbeer float actually. What do you think would cause this?
Here are some pics of it cut:
And a pic of the top:
Any ideas? Do you think it will be okay to use after it has cured? It did not have a visual gel like the goat's milk soap that I have used, but it did seem to heat up and stay heated up for a while.
