Teach Soap

Goats milk fresh off the farm. Got a gallon of it. Made the Knine way. I did my oils first. Added eo’s to the cooled down oils. I had frozen the milk in freezer bags, got one out, sprinkled lye over the goats milk ice SL0W-ly, a little at a time, while stirring and incorporating briskly.

No scorch, no orange, no curdle, no soap on a stick. Whisked the milk and lye solution into the cooled down oils, stick blended for a few minutes. Poured and popped the molds in the freezer. SBW. (The) Soapbuddy Way. Knine freezes her goatsmilk soap, too. Bars are a nice, creamy off-white.

I also used veggie derived sodium lactate. These particular molds have been a bear to get soap out of even when I’ve frozen it before unmolding. With sodium lactate and a twist of the wrist the bars popped right out. What a difference!

The eo’s were Rosewood and Fir. Soap smells fresh, clean and green, like a walk through the woods. I’m happy with it.

Thanks to Knine for teaching me how to make goats milk soap and to Soapbuddy for the sodium lactate tip and all her info about not gelling. Sodium lactate definitely makes a harder bar and makes unmolding easier. Thanks to Vinca Leaf for her info re: where to get veggie derived sodium lactate, which is what I wanted to use.

Easy-peasy. The whole process. It was so easy I thought it must be a fluke so I made a second batch. Easy again. I’m hooked on goats milk soap now.

Nice soap Kate. Did you use a PVC pipe for the mold? How long did you leave in freezer? When did you unmold? If you don't mind my asking. Thanks. I have tried the PVC pipe without much success.

I love your soap, Justkate. Did you use all GM, or was some of your liquid water? I made my 1st GM soap over a week ago, and used 1/2 H2O and 1/2 slushy frozen GM fresh off the store shelf.
My soap stayed creamy white for a few days, but has gradually turned a solid tan. I'm still happy with it, but I think I will try again with your techniques. Glad to hear the fir EO and sodium lactate worked. I have both of those to try as well. Thanks for your detailed description. I'm encouraged to have another go with GM.

Hi Scents. Thank you! I used all frozen GM for the liquid. No water. Knine says her soap stays creamy off-white unless she uses a discoloring FO. If it turns tan while curing I'll be surprised but I'll still be happy with it like you are with yours. I'm looking forward to using it.

The sodium lactate makes it so much easier to unmold. I had tried using these molds previously and had a heckuva time unmolding.

Btw, I blended the sodium lactate into the soap pot after mixing the GM/lye water and oils well and just before I poured. The frozen goatsmilk and lye is like a pina colada so I didn't want to add it to that. That was thick enough. I hope you do give it another go and that it works well for you! Nice that you've got SL and fir eo on hand. Best of luck.

Thanks again, Justkate. I had all but given up on individual molds. I think I'll try them again, tho', since your experience is so encouraging. I'll let you know how it turns out.

Great job justkate!!! Perfect color--- haven't used those eo's so I have no experience with them but so glad you got your creamy white bars! I love individual molds. The bars are easier to use and hold and they add an additional intrest to the look. Congrats!! Another fellow fresh goatmilk soaper! Yes!!!!
