From what I understand, the powder has less natural fat then fresh. I haven't seen much difference in the final soap. When I use real goat milk, I freeze it til it gets slushy, then slowly add the lye. Keep stirring so the milk doesn't scorch. The milk can get thick, so don't panic. Another way to add fresh milk is use minimum water to dissolve the lye, then add the rest of the liquid as milk. I don't do 1:1 solution as my lye won't completely dissolve in such a strong lye solution. For GM powder, mix it with water til smooth and thick. You can add this as soon as your lye water and oils are mixed. You won't need much water to make a GM slurry. I don't discount my water in this case.
