Teach Soap

I am wondering if I am the only one who has trouble smelling fragrances out of the bottle. I have a dozen new fragrances and wouldn't have bought most of them If I had smelled them before hand. However I bought them based on the description and reviews and know I will probably love most of them once I have used them in soap. I had a lemongrass scent that smelled like weeds to me but the soap has an awesome lemon scent. Why is my sense of smell so distorted when I smell the bottled f.o.s ?

I'm the same way. Everything just smells overwhelming and chemical-y out of the bottle to me. BB's Cranberry Fig smelled like cough syrup. I have decent luck dipping a q-tip into the bottle and smelling that, but even then sometimes I have to let the q-tip sit out in the air for a minute before I can get a real sense.

That's one of the reasons that a lot of suppliers ask customers not to post their reviews based solely on the smell of the scent out of the bottle. A lot of scents, FO's and EO's both, smell completely different once soaped.

There's one supplier that I buy from that to my nose almost every FO smells like perfume out of the bottle, but totally different once it's soaped or put in a product.

I don't judge a fragrance how it smells out of the bottle, as it will most likely change once soaped.
