Hi everyone,

I'm new to the forum but not to soap making. I love the classics like castile soap, and I love using home grown ingredients.

Now I want to make a soap that's very helpful with stains on the laundry and, at least here in the Netherlands, it's being fabricated and sold everywhere for that purpose: bile soap. (containing ox bile)

The biological-ecological butcher here can provide the bile, and some sort of lard too, but my problem is the recipe. In the Dutch/Belgian region I can't find anyone who knows the recipe. That makes me all the more determined: I just can't accept that this precious old-timer is now made by factories without anyone knowing how to make it at home!

Do you have a suggestion? thanks a lot!

I have no idea, but I make a stain stick with 100% coconut and 0% superfat and it works well on stains. Did you google "ossegal zeep"?

It's so nice to see somebody else has my sense of humor . . . there was a thread on soaping with beer or wine and I suggested as long as safety precautions were taken when mixing the lye water with the oils, a glass of wine during the process would be quite enjoyable!

As to bile soap -- for me that would be something I would gag over. Have no clue about a recipe for it.
