I am thinking of making a 95% OO and 5% Castor oil with goats milk. I am wondering if a 7% superfat is good for that? Also, my usual 38% water discount which is the set amount on soap calc or should I adjust that? I'm going to make it fragrance and color free for sensitive skin. What do you think?!
Blessings,
Sherri

Yes, that's what I would do. Be aware that you might have a longer trace time. Give it a nice long cure. :)

Okay, thanks! Long cure, as in 6 months long, right?! I have been in denial with my itchy sin, refusing to believe that my soaps bother my skin because I have always had itchy skin not only this past year that I'm making my own soap but have now decided to make a very simple mild soap to see if it gets better. In the meantime while awaiting this long cure I will try various recipes leaving out one oil at a time to find which one might be bothering me!!
Blessings

6 months is good. You could probably use it sooner, but it's better to wait.

I'll be eager to hear about the results in 6 months' time. I've long contemplated exactly that blend!

I finally did it!! Hurray !! I did cave in and add a bit of Gardenia FO from BB because I just love that and didn't really want an unscented soap - I think it won't bother my skin! Thank you, Soapbuddy for the heads-up about the long trace time! I think if you hadn't forewarned me I might have stopped at a false trace but I was quite patient awaiting a truly thick batter with a definate trace, and, yes! it did take a long time! Longer than any soap I've made so far! I was so appreciative of your warning me about that!
It looks real nice now in my molds. I used the little plastic dishes from the Little Caesar's dog food containers because they are such nice shapes. I'm not insulating - just leaving on the table!
I'll unmold it in a couple days!!

Happy New Year!!

I used that recipe but at 8% super fat for my daughter. She has the driest skin I have ever seen. It has aged for four months. She s in love. She says this is the best her skin has ever been. She has even stopped using lotion.

Note to Self...must try a similar recipe myself but I am the most impatient person ever to wait out 6 mths :) Hard enough waiting a full 4 weeks for my other soaps!!!
